Alejandro Martínez Garduño is a mexican percussionist who graduated with a Master’s degree in Specialized Music Performance – Orchestra / Percussion from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 2025, and previously studied at the National Conservatory of Music of Mexico.

First Latin American percussionist to be accepted as a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra. He has been an academist with Sinfonieorchester Basel and is currently an academist at Staatstheater Cottbus. In Mexico, he was a member of the Orquesta Escuela Carlos Chávez and the Orquesta Juvenil Universitaria Eduardo Mata, as well as a regular collaborator with the country’s leading orchestras, performing in national and international tours.

He has performed with orchestras such as Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Philharmonia Zürich, Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Zürcher Kammerorchester, Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden and Orquesta Paax GNP.

Throughout his career, he has worked with distinguished conductors and artists such as Sir Simon Rattle, Zubin Mehta, Klaus Mäkelä, Paavo Järvi, Teodor Currentzis, Sir Antonio Pappano, Daniele Gatti, Lahav Shani, Christoph Eschenbach, Wynton Marsalis, Yuja Wang, Janine Jansen, Mikhail Pletnev, Yunchan Lim, among others.

He has complemented his training through masterclasses and intensive courses with some of today’s leading percussionists, including Evelyn Glennie, Martin Grubinger, Alexej Gerassimez, Kai Strobel, Peter Prommel and Rainer Seegers.

Alongside his orchestral work, he collaborates closely with social and multidisciplinary projects such as PForte Chamber Orchestra and Yolotl Latino.

He currently lives between Germany and Switzerland, where he combines his professional activity with a second Master’s degree in Specialized Music Performance – Orchestra / Timpani at ZHdK, under the guidance of Benjamin Forster, Klaus Schwärzler and Raphael Christen.
